Community Housing Partners (CHP) is pioneering innovative housing solutions that go beyond traditional models, focusing on stability, mobility, and long-term community impact.
“We’re using housing tools and different methods, but it’s focused on community,” says Jake Powell, Director of Homeownership at CHP.
One of the organization’s major successes is the launch of the New River Home Trust, a community land trust in Virginia that has secured over $9.5 million in funding to preserve affordable homeownership. CHP is also advocating for rural homeownership and stressing the importance of investing in historically overlooked areas.
“I think that’s where the strength of this network really lies—we have groups that can do it better than anyone,” Powell explains.
Through shared equity models and modular construction innovations, CHP is creating pathways for renters to become homeowners, ensuring long-term affordability and wealth-building opportunities for families.
